Languages are to the fore at Fearns
PUPILS celebrated European Day of Languages with a host of different activities at Fearns.
They celebrated Europe by having flags from different countries painted on their cheeks and they dined on French pain au chocolat.
They completed language quizzes, one to win a large box of chocolates, and had to say hello in a different language when they were responding to the register being taken.
Associate Assistant Headteacher Mr Ribot said: “We also used this week to announce that we will be having a trip to France from April 6-9 next year when we will be taking 40 pupils.
“On Monday we will also be showing a foreign film in cinema club.
“This is the second time we have celebrated the day and all the money raised will benefit Macmillan Cancer Support.”
Francesca Hoban, 11, said: “I like languages because if you meet someone from a different country and they don’t speak English it is nice to be able to speak to them in their language. I got the French flag painted because I am learning French.”
Fearns will be holding a coffee morning and afternoon for Macmillan next Thursday October 4 and everyone is invited to call into school to support the event.
