Enterprising pupils raise money for Hospice
SPONSORED walk was held by the Youth Enterprise Challenge Team from Fearns.
Year 10 students, along with the team completing the fundraising challenge for Rossendale Hospice, were assigned forms from Years 7-9 to look after.
Lizzie Mawson, 15, said: “A couple of weeks ago we did atrial of the walk and then we took all the pupils on a five mile walk from school, up to the quarry and back.”
For Delta Eaton, 14, it was the first time she had been to Lee Quarry, an area above Stacksteads now popular with mountain bikers.
She said: “There were lots of hills to climb, but I liked the views across Rossendale.
“Some of the Year 7s did complain about how far they had to walk.”
There was a prize for the form that raised the most amount of money - a McDonald’s breakfast for the whole form.
The charity team also held a bag pack at B&M Homestore in Bacup and have another planned at Morrisons in January.
They held a bake sale and funds were boosted by the school’s Christmas jumper day.
