Massive changes have occurred in the way progress is now measured both in schools and by external agencies.
As of Summer 2017 GCSE grades for English, English Literature and maths will be awarded as a number 9-1, instead of the traditional A*-G. All other subjects will also award in this way from Summer 2018.
A grade 5 will be the new expected standard, replacing grade C.
In addition to these changes 2 new measures of schools have been introduced.
At Fearns, in Key Stage 3, teaching staff will be measuring progress based on a flight path model devised in conjunction with Lancashire County Council.
This will be reported to parents/carers and to pupils with regards to them being on track to make expected progress, above expected progress or below expected progress.
The flight path each pupil is on will be determined by their SAT test results at the end of KS2.
All pupils will be set a GCSE target grade (9-1) for each subject based on this flight path and also an aspirational target in line with our ambition for pupils to achieve further, faster and higher.
